Please submit your photos and stories to Press@Myforesthills.com for consideration for publication

This online community was inspired by the long time residents of Forest Hills. We hope that this site can facilitate the exchange of stories between generations. Stories that would have otherwise been lost to time. We encourage the long time residents of Forest Hills and the surrounding neighborhoods to submit their photos and stories to be shared with the community and to serve and a reservoir for future generations to share and continue to preserve the feel of our part of the city. I encourage you to share what Forest Hills is to you. Welcome to My Forest Hills.

June 2025 Forest hills flower feature

Austin Street is the heart of Forest Hills. Those who venture close enough to Forest Park will be rewarded with a display of beauty and color that can only be provided by Mother Nature. She’s had a helping hand, or four. This oasis was curated over the years by Mariana and Caroline with the vigor and level of detail that could only be rivaled by the Queens Botanical Garden.

I’ve been photographing Mariana & Caroline’s work for several years in an attempt to document and capture the fragile and fleeting nature of these flowers. Delicate and intentional. As if these plants have been preparing all year for a brief blast of brilliance at their best. Like a symphony of color and perfume. It makes every visit an event as you will never know what you will find, see or smell.

I has been a privilege to highlight this robust and beautiful green space. We hope that you come up Austin to have a look. You will not be disappointed. And if you happen to see Mariana and Caroline giving Mother Nature a helping hand, do say hello because they are as friendly as they are meticulous about their garden.

Nick’s Pizza has finally reopened, Sweetgreen gets the green light, 7th Street Burger and Chick Fil-A are not far behind - Looks as though Forest Hills is seeing a surge in food options. Some healthy, some not so much. How do people feel about the updated FH food scene?
